Good news: weather in Spanish is super easy once you understand these three patterns.
🌟 HACER + weather word
Used for general weather conditions.
🌞 Hace sol — It’s sunny
🥵 Hace calor — It’s hot
🥶 Hace frío — It’s cold
🍃 Hace viento — It’s windy
👍 Hace buen tiempo — The weather’s nice
👎 Hace mal tiempo — The weather’s bad
💡 Think of HACER as describing the overall atmosphere.
🌧️ ESTAR + gerund (-ando / -iendo) (happening right now)
🌧️ Está lloviendo — It’s raining right now
❄️ Está nevando — It’s snowing right now
☁️ Está nublado — It’s cloudy
🌬️ Está haciendo viento — It’s windy right now
☁️ Está despejando — It’s clearing up
💡 Use ESTAR when the weather is happening at this moment.
🌬️ HAY + noun (there is / there are)

Spanish has specific weather verbs, always used in 3rd person singular (“él/ella”).
